How do I get Jazz 5.0.2 setup to not require LDAP?

I am trying to configure a 5.0.2 jazz server on and IBM i. I do not have an LDAP server. The configuration goes fine but when I run the setup process it keeps stopping me at the user registry. the message says I need to have a user ID configured to the LDAP registry. I have set the button to non-LDAP. Is this a websphere thing I need to configure around or is there something in the jazz server I need to change before doing the setup?

WAS needs to be configured correctly, before you can run the setup. You have to configure Local File Authentication and add the users to it, before you can run setup. You have to maintain the users manually in the local file authentication.

I was able to get the setup to work after doing this. It basically bypassed the signon for the setup and when I got to the step for user registry it already said I had a user ID created.
This still seems like a lot of extra messing around for setting up WAS on and IBM i where the security is part of the operating system and everything up until this was very simple to do and ran great.
Perhaps either the install instructions should inform users that do not have LDAP set up that they have to do some additional changes to the WAS instance that is created for them by the configure jazz server command or the configure should set up the WAS instance to work. Or the setup process should recognize that it can use the system security and not give the error to begin with.

These are enterprise tools. Most users use LDAP.

  1. Use Tomcat and its built in user management, if you want no LDAP and it is available for your platform.
  2. If using WAS, use LDAP. It is easy enough to set up. You can even use the Windows AD, easily enough.
