Migrating the existing data from old field to the new fields in RTC

Pooja Biwalkar (481724) | asked Jan 20 '15, 3:25 p.m.
 Hi,

I wanted to know how can we migrate the existing data from the old fields in RTC onto the new fields.

We have 'ReleaseProject' as one single field in RTC,which had the values for the Release& the Project together. Now we are going to split the two fields separately as Release and Project field. After doing the changes,we want to make sure that the old ReleaseProject field values are reflected in the new Release and Project fields.

Which would be the best way to achieve this? We don't want to loose any of our old data.

Thanks

Hi Pooja,

You can export the data from the old field to a csv file and then import these values to the new fields.

Exporting work items

Importing work items from a CSV file

After exporting the data to a csv file, you will need to somehow split the data from the old attribute into 2 new columns and then import the data to RTC. It´s hard to say how exactly you will do that without knowing your project. I´ve been able to do similar task before using MS Excel.
