Are the user profile mail settings independent of each other in RQM and RTC?

After making changes in the Web interface to my Mail Configuration for RTC under my user profile, it appears to also make the same changes to RQM in my user profile.  Is this a defect or is it working as designed?

This is working as designed. Your user is synchronized by the JTS across all applications registered to it.
