When will Design Manager licenses be consumed?

Johan Rodin (2346) | asked Feb 06 '13, 11:22 a.m.
If you have 100 RTC licenses and 100 RDM licenses, will one user who logs into RTC consume a RDM license by default?
Or when that user actually goes into RDM?

If there are no RDM lic available, how will the user be notified when trying to log on?

HI Johan,

Licenses are generally consumed when the user accesses an "operation" that is associated with a license (e.g. Open a resource, Create a comment, create a review, ...).   So, an RSA DM license (in this case) should only be consumed when you access a feature in RSADM that requires the RSA DM license.

Licensing is quite complicated, suggest starting with this topic if you want to learn more.  http://pic.dhe.ibm.com/infocenter/clmhelp/v4r0m1/index.jsp?topic=%2Fcom.ibm.jazz.repository.web.admin.doc%2Ftopics%2Fc_managing_licenses.html

Hi Johan,

By RDM, do you mean Rhapsody DM or RSA DM?   Secondly, are you talking about the rich client (RSA/Rhapsody) or the web client?

Generally a license is consumed when connecting to the server.

Thanks,
Dan

Sorry, for being unclear: I mean RSA DM and mainly using the web client.
