Can I use the IBM License Server to manage jazz-based license keys that we have setup in Triad?

I saw this dialog. We have DOORS licenses and hence entitlement to DOORSNG. Can either those existing DOORS licenses in our triad-based IBM License Server support DOORSNG, or can we use Jazz-based licenses in the License Server?

If I'm not mistaken, Jazz License Server and IBM license Server use different mechanism so the licenses are not compatible. I don't think Jazz applications know how to communicate with a Triad License server. You can simply convert a JTS server to a Jazz License Server and there is virtually no extra maintenance. Note that you need to return part or all of the DOORS licenses in order to generate DOORSNG licenses.

Don...thanks for the information....we have a lot of Rational products and are starting reviewing the jazz next generation tools as well....What we would like is to maintain a single (triad-based) IBM License Server to service both the legacy tools and the next gen tools....that is really the point of my question....

Hi James,

It sounds like you might want to switch to tokens.  If you use tokens then you have all the advantages of tokens, but from a technical standpoint, you can add jazz token licenses to your IBM License server using the triad setup.

See:

also, although slightly outdated, here is another link which should be useful
