How can i use a work item to control test executions?
Hi! I'm new using RQM and i dont know how i can control a test cycle or executions using a work item.
I can create a work item but i can't relate it with a execution record before i start to execute a execution record, they are avaliable just when i've executed the execution records.
The RQM's version here is 4.0.
Thanks!

Have a look at https://jazz.net/help-dev/clm/topic/com.ibm.rational.test.qm.doc/topics/t_defects.html, specifically https://jazz.net/help-dev/clm/topic/com.ibm.rational.test.qm.doc/topics/t_submit_blocking_defects.html. In addition, you would use your test plan to associate development items (e.g. stories).

Thanks!
So i think i can't do what i want..
Won't be usefull because even if i can link the execution records with the work item i can't see the real progress. Exemple: I will see that the tester is doing the work item but not where he is in the executions.
I'll see real progress just in the view
Hi Michael,
as you're new to RQM, I recommend you check the Typical use of RQM (*) and how to get started based on your job role (test manager, tester, etc.). This page provides you such kind of key information. You'd need to drill down through the hyperlink in the charts (as an example: for test leads, it's here) .
With this, you should get a global picture on how to orchestrate your testing activities (test planning, executions, defect reporting, etc.).
Hope this helps.
Regards,
Stéphane

FORUM ADMINISTRATOR / FORUM MODERATOR / JAZZ DEVELOPER Jul 31 '14, 3:16 a.m.Michael, I am not sure what you want to do here. Test Planning and execution is usually done in RQM. Linking work items to defects is to communicate with the developers that need to look into fixing the defects. I assume you could create a work item to create a test case.
