Pasted string is not recognized in a required field

In the Rational Escalation project area, Escalations have a "PMR #" field that requires a string in the format 11111,222,333.  If I paste a valid PMR number into this field, I get the following error when saving, "Attribute 'PMR #' not set.  The 'PMR #' attribute needs to be set."  Why doesn't it recognize a pasted string?  It works fine if I type in the same string.

the Dojo widget responsible for that field is not recognizing the paste operation..

this is a bug.. add & remove a trailing space
