Rational Insight Live Integration with CLM

From Insight (1.1.1.2), is there a way to connect to a live instance of RTC like Focal Point and RQM? When unzipping the XML_ODBC_Driver_Configuration file obtained from the RTC admin page, there is no workitem-live.xdc file or similar rtc-live file.

Hello Kunal,

of the CLM suite only RQM supports live reporting.
That option is not available for RTC and RRC.

See:
Optional: Setting up live reporting
http://pic.dhe.ibm.com/infocenter/clmhelp/v4r0m6/topic/com.ibm.rational.rrdi.admin.doc/topics/t_setup_live_reporting.html

Live reporting is supported only for Rational® Quality Manager.

 Francesco,

Thanks for the prompt response. A follow up question:

As an alternative since live reporting is not available fro RTC, if we create a report that shows all work items in Insight, is there a way to create a link to the work item in RTC so that the user can go into RTC and edit the work item?

Hello Kunal,

in Report Studio you can use the Hyperlink from the Toolbox and set:

Text Source
Source Type: Data Item Value
Data Item Value: [Business View].[Request].[Name]

URL Source
Source Type: Data Item Value
Data Item Value[Business View].[Request].[URL]

This should give you a clickable link to the RTC WI.

 Francesco,

Thanks. Will give this a shot. Will the generated URL embed the user login information or will the user need to login to RTC again? Is there a way to embed the login info?

Hello Kunal,

I'm not aware of any way to embed the login credentials in an RTC URL.
However, if you are using the Jazz namespace for Insight and CLM, after you've logged in once in CLM (with the same credentials used for Insight) you should be able to move back and forth between the applications with no further logins.
