Export and import work items between Jazz repositories

Guowei Jim Hu (1.0k810353) | asked Dec 08 '08, 12:24 p.m.
I exported some work items from one of our Jazz server into csv and html files. I then wnat to import them into another Jazz server.
But when I run Jazz Import, can't find the corresponding work item category to do the import under either Team or Team Process. What do I miss? Which import category I should to choose to import the exported work items in csv or html format?

Hi,

I found the following Work Items addressing this issue:
https://jazz.net/jazz/web/projects/Jazz%20Project#action=com.ibm.team.workitem.viewWorkItem&id=60781
https://jazz.net/jazz/web/projects/Jazz%20Project#action=com.ibm.team.workitem.viewWorkItem&id=64226
https://jazz.net/jazz/web/projects/Jazz%20Project#action=com.ibm.team.workitem.viewWorkItem&id=63545

So it looks that you have to transform the exported WIs to the Bugzilla format and then you should be able to import them. Look here: https://jazz.net/learn/LearnItem.jsp?href=content/tech-notes/rational-team-concert-1_0-importing-work-items/index.html

If you want the possibility to import WI directly please comment on WI#63545.

kind regards,
Jakub

Thanks, Jakub,
I added the following comments to the work item:
Our usecase is like this and I believe it is pretty common:
we have many teams jumped early in adopting Jazz by themselves and usually setup their own server and created their own project areas. Now we decide to use Jazz for the whole org., so we try to setup a primary server and consolidate all the Jazz repositories into one as they are all components of one single product suite.
As Jazz 1.0.1 can't do individual project area migration, and apparently whole repository migration won't work for us, so the ability of being able to at least keep and migrate all work items from various project areas on different servers to our primary server are well expected.
We don't care if it has to be done via CSV, html or XML format.
