What impacts to increasing license check-out time ?

We've gotten complaint that the user has to login too often during their work day.  I've determined it is due to license checkout.

"several times a day I have to enter my password (RQM repository) to be able to work with RQM. Eventhough I did not leave the RQM page. It should be sufficient to enter password once a day. If this is works as design, change this behavior please."

Another discussion mentioned legal concerns for shortening license check-out time ? It's likely that the usage will more likely lead to unavailable licenses.

On the affected server, the average peak of checked out licenses is ~350 (developer floating)

TIA,

Kevin

Kevin,

I am not convinced the need to logout is related to licenses.
I can stay connected the whole day on all my servers, regardless of the license. I suspect a network issue. Your network could drop idle connections. Or there is an issue with WAS/IHS if you use it and the LTPA token expires. Is there any indicator in the server or application logs?

Our WAS logs are >99% about LTPA expiring i.e.
3/5/13 11:42:21:200 EST] 00000b58 LTPAServerObj W   SECJ0371W: Validation of the LTPA token failed because the token expired with the following info: Token expiration Date: Tue Mar 05 11:37:00 EST 2013, current Date: Tue Mar 05 11:42:21 EST 2013.

at the rate of 1000s / day.  Hmm.  but looks like expiration is several minutes premature.

LTPA timeout is 240 min, WAS session lifetime is the same.  License checkout is set to 180 minutes.
