Clearcase Syncs - what to you get in RTC
We're running CC/CQ UCM and are planning on migrating to JAZZ CLM suite.
As part of the migration we are considering using the CC synchronizer, allowing for continued work in both CC and JAZZ until the cut over to Jazz is finalized. Basically we plan on setting up syncs for integration streams. We looked at CQ synchronizer also but due to the way we currently have the schema/record types and workflows setup in CQ, it did not make much sense to set this up to RTC as the whole process changes. For example in CQ Defect records they capture test plans and results. In going to Jazz, this would be done in QM with links back to the RTC record. With only the CC-Jazz syncs setup what type of records get created in RTC side say due to a delivery operation in CC? Assuming that in the JAZZ CLM project, we set it up as a formal development process? |

Hello Norman,
When you run the CleraCase Synchronizer, the sychronizer creates a work item in JAZZ to track the Jazz-SCM change-sets created by itself. If you have special process configuration to your project area or your team area, it may block the synchronizer to deliver the change-set to the synchronized stream. In such case, you can configure an existing work item as a template to the synchronizer so the synchronizer can create a work item that meets your process configuration. |

Yes, the CC Synchronizer is what you would want to use here, and synchronizing the integration stream is normally the right choice.
And I agree, except in special cases, setting up the CQ Synchronizer is more effort than is usually warranted ... just create new work items in RTC, linking back to existing CQ records when necessary.
And as Masa says, the CC Synchronizer lets you specify what type of work item records gets created in the RTC side.
