Hi,
Is there a way to select several workitems and update the "Planned for" field?

Yes, this should be possible from the Work Item Explorer. When you execute a query, select all the desired work items and then right-click into any row in the table at the column "Planned for". The context menu offers an entry to mass-change this value for the selection.
