Action Dropdown on Artifacts

RQM Version: 2.0.1

Hi,

Is there a possibility to restrict the user from changing the Action drop down state to "Approve" or "Reject" during an artifact review?

Scenario: Tester writes scripts and sends the Test case to Reviewer1 for formal review by changing the Action Dropdown to "Ready for Review". At this moment the Tester has option to click on the Action Dropdown and select either "Approve" or "Reject" actions. Can we have these actions restricted from being displayed to Tester or reviewer? (Since the reviewer can approve or reject the associated workitem directly)

Thanks,
Krishna

You can control who can add or remove an approver / reviewer through the permissions. But I don't think there is way to restrict the approve / reject actions currently.

Hello Krishna,

Workflow actions cannot be hidden from the UI, but you can assign permissions to them. If you want to allow only certain users to perform the Approve action (or any other action), you just need to remove the permission to the specific user role for the Approve action. You can find that sub-action under Trigger Workflow Action in the Save <artifact type> operation, so for example, if you want to restrict the Approve action on Test Plans, you need to go to the permissions page and uncheck Save Test Plan > Trigger a Workflow Action > Approve.

Also, if what you need to do is specifically restrict the transition to the Approved state when there are pending approvals, you can do it by configuring a precondition for it. There are a complete set of preconditions created for that purpose, you can chose which ones to configure based on the needs of your project and/or organization. Those preconditions can be found by connecting to your project area using the RTC rich client, then in the Project Area editor, go to the  Project Configuration tab > Operation Behavior > Save Formal Review.

Thanks.

Sorry, my answer is only applicable to RQM 4.0. I don't think there's a way to accomplish what you need in RQM 2.x.
