Migrating Rational Insight artifacts from Windows to Linux
Hi
We are currently using Windows based Rational Insight. (RI 1.1). We have some DOS scripts for scheduling ETLs and we have a requirement to allow import of Microsoft XLS and Microsoft MPP files for our application to capture certain data from them.
We want to migrate to Linux based system. Our database is already on AIX and on a separate server.
Would it be possible to still import the Excel/mpp files in that case and what would be the steps/changes required for migrating RI from Windows to Linux ?
If this has been attempted before, would really appreciate if you could tell us how it was done.
thanks

Hi Anagha,
Sorry I'm not followed your question - are you asking migrate your existing DOS shell script to Linux?
To migrate RI from Windows to Linux, since you have a separated DB server, you may need the following general steps. Note there is no DM GUI on Linux so you still need a Windows machine for catalog development.

To migrate RI from Windows to Linux, since you have a separated DB server, you may need the following general steps. Note there is no DM GUI on Linux so you still need a Windows machine for catalog development.
- Install RI on a new Linux box
- Configure data source of ODBC on Linux
- Configure the Content Store DB
- Backup the XDC file, FM Model and DM catalog on your Windows machine
- Restore all the backup files on Linux
