is it possible to run a ETL / Data movement task remotely. I need to be able to run a ETL when user adds new data to an application to move the new data into the DW.

Yes. Data movement tasks are maintained by the Insight reporting server. So, anyone with Web access to the server (and permission to the data movement task) can kick it off manually any time.
