Is it legal to import data model from Cognos to RRDI?

I don't think it's legal.
But I want to ask, if customer has full cognos capability, why they want to import into RRDI? I assume using cognos can achieve all the customization work.
This would not be supported by RRDI. If you want to go ahead, be aware that CLM ETL are Java implementations within CLM. They do not use Data Manager. Therefore, trying to use both the CLM Data Collection jobs and your custom ETL would likely produce incorrect results. You would have to totally replace the CLM ETL and disable the Java Data Collection Jobs. RRDI does include the DM Engine, so it can run Data Manager jobs loaded as Data Movement Tasks.
One other point, RRDI version upgrades does not recognize these customizations, so you would have to deal with them. They would likely get over written when upgrading to a new RRDI version.
Rational Insight does support these customizations and will recognize them during version upgrades.

Thanks Mike!
The reason why my client is trying this scenario is that they already have bought Cognos BI. They are arguing that they use only CLM tools and do need some extension of Rational datawarehouse (example could be timesheet data that is not accessible via REST) and metamodel. So they have developed their own ETLs, new tables in DW database and extend FM model.
I tried to export/import Cognos model to RRDI and it works but we still need to know any potential limitations of such scenario.
-thanks in advance
