Set the start and end date for releases and iterations
I am able to create iterations plans for releases and iterations. My understanding is that, e.g. for a Scrum project, such an iteration plan is the product backlog or sprint backlog. But all these plans get a predefined start and end date that I am not able to modify. When I edit the dates in the corresponding source of the process template, it does not affect an existing project (btw, that is what I would have expected; however, why do you define dates in the template at all?). How do I modify the start and end date for an existing plan? Or how do I set it when creating the plan?
Thanks a lot! |

You can modify an iteration's start and end dates in the project area
editor. Select an iteration in the Iterations section of the Overview tab and click the Edit button. From there, you will see the option to adjust the start and end dates. FYI, the templates let you configure *relative* start and end dates. For example, you can create a few iterations and say that each one will last for one month. Then when you create a project area using that template, the project area will be created with iterations that last for one month, starting from the current date. A process template gives a project area its initial state when it is created and then there is no further connection between the two. Changing a template won't affect any existing project areas.
