Install Issue : RTC 3.0.1 P2 Install and Wind River 3.2

Does anyone have any wisdom on how to get Wind River Workbench 3.2 and RTC 3.0.1 to work together ?

We are trying to install the RTC 'P2' installation into the Eclipse instance that comes with the Workbench but we have a problem.

RTC appears to use Eclipse 3.5.2 and Workbench was Eclipse 3.5.1 when we first tried to do this but after an update of the Workbench we have now got Wind River to use Eclipse 3.5.2 also.

The error message we get points to version incompatibility :

Cannot complete the install because of a conflicting dependency.

Hi Mark,

have you checked the help at http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/clmhelp/v3r0m1/topic/com.ibm.jazz.install.doc/topics/t_client_installation_extension.html

There is a special topic to install the RTC 3.0.1 client into Eclipse 3.5.x.

Ralph, the extension install link is to a V2.0.0.2 installation and I cannot find a link to an 'extension' install for V3.0.1. Has this page been updated wrongly ?

Mark,

yes, the download page is wrong, you might want to create a work item against documentation. But as you can see from the original URL that isthe help for 3.0.1 and so I assume it is still valid. Please note I have not had the requirement to try that installation scenario myself. But I would certainly try because it mentions Eclipse 3.5.x.

Mark,

sorry, I missed your point. You are right, there is no extension install and I guess that is the P2 install. I had a customer with a similar issue who ended up installing his extensions into RTC instead of the other way round. Does the IM install work?

I know there were additional subjects in the wiki, that helped the customer back then (3.0) but I can't find them currently.

I'm facing the same problem with the exact versions?
Did anyone had any progress with this?
It is not possible to install using p2 repository nor the IM. Same dependencies are needed from both.

Amit.

There is a known issue with the p2 install for 3.0. and 3.0.1. The details and patches can be found here: https://jazz.net/jazz/web/projects/Rational%20Team%20Concert#action=com.ibm.team.workitem.viewWorkItem&id=168507

The work item contains patches attached. The patches can however only be installed into the RTC P2 update site before installing into Eclipse. You have to download the patch and follow Comment 4:
* Extract the p2 zip file.
* Extract the patch file over.
* Then do a p2 install using the patched RTC p2 install.

The issue does not come up with the IM version of the installer.
