So looking at the error log, it seems the problem is occurring well before the converter is actually being asked to render the artifact as it appears to be failing to simply get the artifact from the server.

While I see references to the converterProxy, am I correct to assume that you have not actually set up a delegated converter? I believe it will show it's using the proxy service even when it's not delegated, but it would help to know for sure if that is or is not the case.

I'll reach out to our server team and have them look into the 500 server error.

Nope, the converter is perfectly fine to use on RHEL.
One suggestion I got from someone was to review the server/conf/rm/fronting.properties file to verify that the ConverterURL property is set appropriately. In a non-delegated configuration, it would typically look something like this:

com.ibm.rdm.fronting.server.ConverterURL=https://{server:port}/converter/htmlgen

{server:port} will point to the hostname you have defined, so if the rest of the fronting.properties is using my.host.name, that's what you should expect to see there.

Other than that, it would probably be best at this point to open a ticket with Support so we can establish the necessary communication and information exchange needed to properly investigate the situation.
