Hi, I'm attempting to install RTC (OS: Windows Server 2003, 32-bit Enterprise).

I'm using the installation manager ...and receive the following error:

"The com.ibm.team.install.calm package specified in ...\install-server.xml file cannout be found. The com.ibm.team.install.jfs.app.product-rtc-standalone package specified in ...\install-server.xml file cannout be found."

Has anyone else encountered this error? How do I resolve this issue?

Please advise

Okay, so I've tried both the download manager (for the web installer and individual repositories) and 7-zip (for the individual repository).

I've made the most progress using the individual repository, but the "win32.zip" file is still an issue.

I tried unzipping with Winzip and get the following error message "Error: Invalid compressed data to expand (inflate) the file."

Next I tried 7-zip, per your suggestion, and got the following diagnostic message "Data error in 'im\repo\jts-ccm-trial\offering-repo\native\com.ibm.java.win32.jre_5.0.11.20110301.zip'. File is broken"

Is it possible to send me a working version of that file and/or assist me via a web session?

Please advise

Hi Akilah,

honestly I have almost never any issue with downloading and installing from any location and I do install very often. Even from home I never have any problems. At least not using a download manager such as Free Download Manager and 7Zip.

I have seen posts from users having issues in the past and we tried as good as possible to test and improve for that. I haven't seen any complaints recently.

I have also downloaded and installed 3.0 iFix1 several times. I am not sure what the issue is for you though.

Please keep us updated.

Thanks,

Ralph

Hi,

what timezone are you in? We could try a web session, but I am off tomorrow 'till monday.

It should not be that hard. I have done it many many times, RC3 included, and it comes down to following the help here: https://jazz.net/downloads/help.jsp. Use free download manager. Windows zip will not work as suggested above.

For the Repository download:
Download for example https://jazz.net/downloads/rational-team-concert/milestones/3.0.1RC3/JTS-CCM-QM-RM-repo-3.0.1RC3.zip. Unzip the repository somewhere near the root e.g. C:\RC3Repo\ using 7Zip.

Install or upgrade to https://jazz.net/downloads/ibm-installation-manager/releases/1.4.1 or later as advised.

Start IBM Installation Manager from the start menu.
*Open the menu File>Prefereces.
*Select the Repositories preference.
*Press Add Repository to add the downloaded repository.
*In the Add Repository dialog browse to C:\RC3Repo\ to add this repository and click OK.
**Your repositories connections should now show the installation manager repository at the end of the list.
*Click OK to close the preferences dialog.
*Go to the main dialog and press Install.

For the Web Installer Download

Download http://ca-toronto-dl.jazz.net/mirror/downloads/rational-team-concert/3.0.1/RC3/RTC-Web-Installer-Win-3.0.1RC3.zip.
*Unzip it with 7Zip and run launchpad.
*Select the Link "Jazz Team Server with Required Base Licenses, including Trials,......"
*Provide your jazz.net user and password
*Install

I just tried the Web Install again, and it worked lik a charm.
There is no need to extract any files manually except the file you downloaded initially.

Are you downloading via a proxy? Could the proxy have a corrupted file cached? Can you download without it?

Thanks,

Ralph

I'm on the West Coast ..PST.

I agree it should not be that hard, but it has been. I have followed the instructions and suggestions. As you see from my posts, the "expected" is not happening.

I think perhaps a web session would be most useful, so you can see exactly what I am seeing.

Lastly, I do not know what you mean by "are you downloading via a proxy".

Thanks

Please note that I'm not attempting to extract any files manually!

When using Winzip or 7-Zip to unzip the download file, I get an message about the aforementioned file.

I attempted the install in spite of the message and as expected I received error message, via the installation manager, about the exact same file.

Hi,

I am in Germany.

I meant is there a proxy between you (company) and Jazz.net? It looks as if you would always receive the same corrupted file. That might happen if the proxy just buffers that file and does not really download again.

Did you look into the file sizes? I Tried RC4 today and it just worked. I am not sure how a web session could help with a corrupted download.

Thanks,

Ralph

Just for the information of the people on the forum - we looked at the problem this evening. There is a problem with the way the network proxies authenticate at this site - so the Installation Manager can grab files directly from jazz.net. The solution is to download the files and use these repository files directly. However, because of slow and problematic internet access - downloading the repository takes hours, and we ended up with a corrupted file. The next step is to find a colleague close to the physical site to send over a copy of the repositories on CD (any volunteers able to post a CD to California?)

Thanks to Anthony, I was able to install RTC from disk...

But, being that a new release is out ...I would like to upgrade already.

The following files are currently packaged as one zip file:

Jazz Team Server and CCM, QM and RM Applications with Trial licenses for Rational Team Concert, Rational Quality Manager and Rational Requirements Composer

Do you think it's possible that in future releases, that each components be available seperately (as well as collectively)?

Thanks

Akilah

Hi Akilah

That sounds like a very reasonable request.

In the meantime - there are references on jazz.net to download management software - software that helps with problems of very slow downloads that stop midway, or with errors. It is worth trying one of those.

Also - I know you are looking at DOORs and a DOORS to RTC integration. Double check that your DOORS version is compatible with RTC3.0.1 before you go through the upgrade process.

Yes,I'm using one of the recommended download managers and one of my colleagues has 7-zip.

Where do I check the RTC/DOORS compability versions? I searched on the IBM Rational DOORS helpsite and here under the RTC downloads on jazz.net
