Efficient way to create a project area

Hi,

We are now starting a new project and creating a project area.

Most of the members and the roles of the members are same as previous project.
Also, I'm going to create similar Team Areas.

So I want to copy the previous project area and modify it a little.
(There are a lot of members now...)
Is there such a way?
Or is there a way to create a project area efficiently when it is almost same as a previous one?

You have a couple of choices, one you can create a process template that is based on the existing one you have configured, but you'll have to extract the process template and then import it/create a new template.

If you are looking for something a little quicker, you can create a new project area (make sure to utilize the same template as your existing project area), then open each project area, goto the Process Configuration Source tab and copy the entire xml source from the original project area to the newly created Process Config Source tab, overwriting its xml source.

This will carry over much of the original project area's configuration; work items (custom), default queries, dashboards, reports, roles, permissions, etc...

Team areas will probably have to be setup in the new project area, but this will get you almost all of it, at least the critical areas of the configuration.

Hi,

Thank you for your reply :)

I already knew about process template.
My problem now is how to copy the members of the project.

As I mentioned, most of the members and the roles of the members are same as previous project, and there are so many members, so I want to copy whole project information including members as well as team area.

Considering your answer, it is impossible to do so.

Is my understanding correct?
Or is there another good idea?

My apologies for missing the question.

I do not know if you can copy the team members over. It's a question I am also interested in.
