language pack not working for project area

man fire (7111210) | asked Sep 08 '10, 8:34 p.m.
Hi guys,

We want to display RTC in french . for that we did the following:

1.Installed the French language pack.
2.Installed "quick locale switcher" in firefox.
3.When the webui is accessed only the summary or the admin page and rest of text is in french but when the project area is accessed, it is in English.

I already tried the work environment setting by changing it to French, hoping that my porject area will appear in french but no luck.

Anybody know how to change the setting at user level so that a user can view the project in french?

I was hoping that source control and workitems would appear in French but they are in English. It seems that lanaguage packs didn't have any impact. Is this normal and expected? Has anyone experienced this with other language packs?

When you're using RTC, some of what you see in your UI are built-in parts
of the tool and some of the things are part of the Process configuration.
The parts that come from the Process configuration are "user content",
meaning anyone can open the project area editor and create/remove/rename
these pieces. This content is specific to whatever language it's written
in, so it doesn't get translated dynamically when you change your client
language.

This is especially confusing because of the fact that we give you a
process configuration out of the box when you use a template like Scrum
to create your project area. So even though you may not have manually
edited these pieces, you *can* manually edit them so they are not
translatable.

Having said all that... the process templates themselves are available in
multiple languages. So when you create a project area you can choose
which language to use for the template and the project area will be
created with all of the strings from that template written to the project
in whatever locale you chose. At this point (once the project has been
created), the data exists only in the chosen language so there's no way
to switch between languages for that project.

Hope that helps,
