Extracting work item to a different project and transfer data of custom attributes

 Is this possible?

We have multiple different work items in one project and we can extract data including custom attributes we have created between them

We have created a different project that contains the trigger for the each body of work to be undertaken in the other project. However, when I try to extract the work item, only system attributes are available in the 'select the attributes to include' windows

If your new project area does not have any of the attributes defined in the other project areas, you won't be able to select them.

 They have the same attributes by name and ID, however don't seem to transfer across

I should add that we're on rtc3 due to server side architectural issues. 

Should it work still?
