RTC + RSA 8.0 beta2 does not fly

I'm struggeling to get my version control back. Currently the situation is like this:

Installation manager prevents me to install RTC client 2.0.0.2 to the RSA 8.0 beta2 package saying that the products are not compatible.
RTC 3.0 M7 client is not compatible with the RTC 2.0 server we have.

Is there is an RTC client build somewhere that works with an RTC 2.0 server and the RSA 8.0 beta?

I've cross posted this topic to the RSA 8 beta forum because I don't know where it belongs. Sorry.

Thanks,
Mr. Bleeding edge

But that didn't help me, still no error messages during install, and still no "File->Accept team Invitation" and other menus/command after install.

Hmm, it appears that you manually must change the RSA capabilities to make the RTC menus/perspectives et al visible

After RTC install open RSA and open Window->Preferences

Select General->Capabilites, proess 'advanced.." and assure that Team->'Jazz Source Control' is selected. Apply and Exit the preferences window.

Then for example "File->Accept Team Invitation" became visible for me...

This solved my issue as well! Thanks.

Hi

Just got RTC up and running with RSA v8 (eval version). I used the p2 install download for RTC 2.0.0.2 iFix3. It all appears to work.

Some points to note:

You need to have RSA installed using at least the Standard Architect settings (this is part of the install options).

You will not see the usual work items perspective initially, you need to switch perspectives, select the box to show ALL possible perspectives, and then you should see the Work Items perspective.

Help->Welcome now has RTC specific content on it but does not have the Accept Project Invitation entry you have on plain RTC installs.

Hope that helps

Is there any WI asking for a IM Repository of RTC Client 2.0.0.2 for
RAD/RSA 8.0? I think it is not a good idea to force a server upgrade
when upgrading desktop tools. And for a huge installation, manual p2
installation, checking if you have the right feature selected in your
installation, etc.... is a nightmare.

At the same time, mixing IM installations with p2 ones... I have seen
many problems.

Thanks,

Chemi.

Hi Chemi

I like your idea about a IM install for v2 into RSA v8 (or Eclipse 3.6). If you don't see a work item, please create one.

To be clear, you do not need to upgrade your 2.x server to install a 2.0 client in RSA v8. You will need to upgrade the server to v3 (when it ships) if you want the v3 client on RSA.

regards

anthony

Yes, that's clear to me. But, it seems there are some problems (I read
about them in other forums) when installing the client via p2 and for
example you have RAD and RSA 8.0 installed in the same machine. It is
just an example... so for me it seems the safest scenario is to use RTC
3.0 (when available) unless we have a supported RTC Client 2.0 IM Repo
for Eclipse 3.6 products. But of course this is just a personal opinion,
not an IBM statement.

I am starting to play with this today for a customer demo, so I will
come back and report all problems I find.

Chemi.
