Weird floating license issue at runtime

Guowei Jim Hu (1.0k910353) | asked Jun 15 '10, 7:54 a.m.
We've encountered a weird issue twice in a row with the RTC floating client access license assignment to an active user.

What happened is that when the user complained that all of sudden he couldn't see the streams and build engines. Checking the user's repository account, we found that the checkbox next to Rational Team Concert - Floating Developer was unchecked. So we tried to check it again but couldn't save it. There is not error but after clicking Save button, the checkbox is simply unchecked.

So we then opened the web ui and verified he is still listed under the Active Users, and the user is also listed when we open Client License Access Management page and selected Rational Team Concert - Floating Developer.

We eventually figured out a way to get the user's license assignment back by unassigning his license first on Client License Access Management page and then assign it again in his repository account and save the changes.

Does this sound like a bug? Has anyone seen this before?

We've encountered the same thing today - looked up the user in the Active Users list, no license was assigned. Tried to assign a Floating Developer license, but would uncheck itself during a save. Thanks for the tip, by unassigning the license in the Client Access License Management section, allowed us to assign the Floating Developer license again.

One thing I noticed, is that when looking at the user's Jazz Repository Connection, the user was trying something other than https://<server>:9443/jazz/, using the https://<server>:9443/jazz/web/projects/<projectname> which was retrieved from a team invitation that was sent by RTC. All of our users should be using the RTC client software, and they get confused when an invitation gets sent with instructions for using the Web UI.
