Group filters capability for workitem statistics viewlet
I noticed that the work item statistics viewlet has the option to define "group filters". This option is available using the Edit Settings option.
I would like to know if there is any way to define this grouping when defining the dashboard itself, so this configuration is kept in the default dashboard.
I do not see how to do this when defining the dashboard. Is it possible? If not, is there any scheduled enhancement that you know?
Thanks

Are the entries of these group filters documented somewhere ? Searching jazz.net
hasn't yet revealed them.
Unfortunately, the only available documentation on the "Group Filters" feature is contained in the "Rational Team Concert 2.0.0.1 - New and Noteworthy" document on jazz.net.

Hi Claudia,
Unfortunately, there is no way to currently prime the "Work Item Statistics" viewlet with a predefined group filter at this moment.
The mechanism used to define default dashboards for projects, teams and contributors is the Dashboard Templates feature within the Project Area Editor in the Eclipse Rich Client.
e.g. In the left tree viewer:
Project Configuration > Configuration Data > Dashboards > Dashboard Templates
Since, the data format used by the viewlet to store the group filter is internal and not user-friendly there are no plans in the future to expose this to users without some heavy revision / additional tooling.
Thanks,

giving the posts above what is the sense anyway?
could you imagine how a user/admin of the product feels when he sees the option in the widget and does not find ANY hint in the product documentation?
i needed over half an hour to find this and do not get why i can enter information and use an add buton when there is no intention of leting me make use of it
there is a feeling of incompleteness arising, i'm pround to be an IBMer and i want to be proud of IBMs Software and i would not want customers to get this feeling when using the software.

I am also trying to find help information on this. Am I interpreting your comments above correctly, that the group filter functionality does not currently work?

The "Group Filters" feature is fully functional; however, as noted it is (1) Lacking documentation; (2) Lacking user assistance; and (3) Needs usability improvements (input is not obvious).
The following work item will address all three issues:
94549: : Improve usability of group filters

Thanks very much Mike, I now understand how it works.
