Plan view for multiple teams

I have a project team that has two main efforts to focus on, but ultimately one project. I had originally only set up one team area for the two efforts and tracked the progress based on the type of work.

The team has grown and I now need to break the team into two sub-teams, still all working out of one plan and one backlog.

So I have this set up currently:
Main Team
Sub-Team A
Sub-Team B

All this appears to be working until I associate the work item categories to the sub-teams, once I do this, all the information on the plan reduces down to only the Main Team.

What is the best way to resolve this issue? I need to keep the team as one, but with two focused areas.

Any help would be appreciated. I DO NOT want to have two separate plans if at all possible.

Hi,

A way we did this was to set a view in the plan to be grouped by "Category"

This should give you work items filed against each of the sub teams.

Hope that helps.

You can also group by "tag" or group by "folder" (see the "grouping"
choices when you "edit" or "copy" the "View as" properties of the plan.

In general, an RTC "team" has its own iteration plan, so as Vince
suggests, you need to divide up ("group") the two efforts by some
mechanism other than by creating a separate team for each effort.
