I wanna create a ClearCase Synchronized Steam in RTC.
I click File->New->Other, and select ClearCase Synchronized Steam. Then step further to 'Jazz Source Control Information' page, I fill in all the required filed and click Finish, then a ClearCase Connector Error Message will pop up:
'The error below occurred while setting up the Jazz build environment:

Reason:
Could not save build engine with id "ccadmin_Proj1_16.28.38.synchronizer".'

I click the Details button and the informationi is:
"Save Build Engine" failed. Permission denied.

I ignore this error message and click Ok on the eror message page, the processing will go on and pop up the 'Select Files to Synchronize' page, I select 'Select files and folders in ClearCase' and fill in the path field, which is required to fill, then click Finish. The save error message as above will pop up again.

Then I open 'Team Advisor' view to see more information:
"Problem
You don't have permission to Save Build Engine(server).

Reason
In order to carry out this operation, you would need permission to perform the following additional actions:
Action: ID:
Create Build Engine create
"

Does anyone know what's the root cause is? How to fix this problem?

Hi,

Permissions are controlled in the Process Configuration of a Project (and team and timeline and iteration type). You have to have Permissions to do things per the role you have in a project (etc.) even if you are Admin. Admin is privileged insofar as he can give these permissions to his role in case he does not have them.

to solve it:
Open the Project Editor, chose tab Process Configuration.
Goto Project Configuration, Permissions and make sure the permissions to create item connectors are available to the user.

Goto Team Configuration, Permissions and make sure the permissions to save build engines (and whatever else might be required) are available to the user.

You may need to do this for the synchronization user who needs to be in the project. You might want to create a special role for this user and purpose.

Ralph's guidance is correct, with one small adjustment: the "Item
Connector" permission is not required for the ClearCase Synchronizer (it
is only required if you are using the ClearQuest Synchronizer).

Cheers,
Geoff
