Check-in workspace changes to Jazz repository

St Clair Clarke (662618) | asked Feb 03 '08, 1:56 p.m.
Hello,

I have managed to deliver some workspace code to a stream.

After that I created a test src package with a single src file and attempted to check this to the repository.

However, when I click the Team >> Check-in, nothing seems to happen. I don't see the gold-bar (cylinder) on the requested check-in package or src file?

Am I doing something wrong?

Trace to what component? The Eclipse "add source folder" component?
The problem is that we are not seeing behavior we expect, so it doesn't
do any good to put a trace in the component that is not being invoked (:-).

Cheers,
Geoff

OK, I'm stumped (I cannot reproduce this behavior).

Me again, and yes you know what I will ask :D
Any way we could add trace in this component so in the future we know what
is happening ?

There is no Jazz SCM action that takes place when one selects or
unselects that preference. The preferences just specifies what Jazz SCM
will do when it is notified that a new file is created or a change to a
controlled file is saved.

Cheers,
Geoff

Ummm, yeah... true

how does it work when the resource is created ? Do we get a delta
notification or does the Eclipse Team code manage that and we get nothing ?
If we are supposed to benotified b/c we listen to event in the project and
we are not, I agree it won't help...

When the customer does "I then check and unched the auto-commit in Jazz
team preference but with the same result." are we called at all ? If so,
are we checking changes in projects ?

Thanks Geoff :)

Per the workitem 39064 mentioned previously, make sure your workspace is located on the same drive as your install. There seems to be an issue when they are on different drives.

Thanks,

Greg

Hello Grader,
Thanks.

However, I reloaded on Jazz completely onto the same drive as my workspace, but came up with the same old problem.

Once I deliver the code base to the stream, the black arrows signifying the changes changes to the gold bar meaning that the code is now under SCM control.

Hoever, creating any source folder or package does not show either the black arrow signifying changes to be commited nor a gold arrow.

The truth, if I cannot get this to work, I might as well give up on Jazz, no matter how potentially great it might be.

I wonder if the developers are working on this problem that I have encountered?

I also wonder how many beta testers are affected by this prolem?

I do think I have wasted enough time on this now though without a resolution.

Thanks again Grader.

This is really stumping me, I looked at the video you sent me and there
wasn't enough footage to tell exactly what was wrong. Obviously this is
very basic behavior that should just work - no questions asked. I'd
really like to get to the bottom of this, if you have any patience at
all, it would really help if you could do the following:

1. Starting with a fresh Jazz install or empty workspace, record with
jing everything you did to get to the point that a new folder wasn't
being checked-in. This would really help us see what you did. For
example, how did you share the project?

2. It looks like from the video there are other tools installed in your
Eclipse IDE? Could you list them?

3. Could you send us the contents of your log? To get at this, open the
Error Log view from the Windows > Show View > Others... then pick the
error log.

4. Could you also include the contents of the Jazz Source Control and
Resource properties page on the project, src folder and file? You can
get this by right-clicking on them in the package explorer and run
"Properties" or Ctrl-Enter.

Thanks,
Jean-Michel
