Compatible and difference between client versions

Makoto Kawakami (1142) | asked Jan 25 '10, 8:24 p.m.
Hi,

I would like to check the following difference and compatible

Q1. What is the difference of client features (GUI) between Express-C and Standard Edition in 2.0.0.2?
Actually, the size of binary files are difference between Express-C and Standard Edition in 2.0.0.2.

Q2. Are we able to support the mixed versions between client and server?
i.e: client version: 2.0.0.1, server version: 2.0.0.2
I know that same version level is recommended. however, if the number of users are large, it is sometimes difficult that it matches same versions between client and server.

If you know the reference documents, links or information, let me know.

The only difference between the 2.0.0.2 Express-C and the 2.0.0.2
Standard Eclipse clients is the license terms, so you will see no
feature differences.

The RTC client/server compatibility matrix can be found at
https://jazz.net/downloads/rational-team-concert/releases/2.0.0.2?p=upgrading

For your particular question, all of the Eclipse RTC-2.0.* clients are
compatible with all the RTC-2.0.* servers.

Cheers,
Geoff

Hi, Geoff

Thank you for your quick response.
I undestand it.

However, I have one more question.
Regarding in the URL "Compatibility of Rational Team Concert clients and servers", the 2.0.x for Eclipse is compatible with 1.0.X compatible Jazz Team Server version.
Does the "Compatible Jazz Team Server version" mean Jazz team foundation server?
If yes, I am clear for it.

Also, I am understanding the RTC 2.0.0.2 based on 1.0.0.1 team foudation server.
Is above correct?

Yes, the RTC 1.0.* servers were based on the Jazz Foundation 0.6.* code
base, and the RTC 2.* servers were based on the Jazz Foundation 1.* code
base.

We decided to avoid all that confusion in the RTC (and RQM and RRC etc.)
3.0 releases, but aligning the Jazz foundation version numbering with
all of the other product version numbering, so the Jazz Foundation
version for RTC-3.* (and RQM-3.*, and RRC-3.*, etc.) will be 3.*.

Cheers,
Geoff
