Story Work Item, % Work Completed, and Time Spent
I have followed the instructions in the link below to add the story work item successfully.
https://jazz.net/downloads/betas/data/0.6Beta2a/jazz-news-0.6Beta2-part2.html I saw some mentioning about time spent. Will I be able to try it in Beta 2? If so, how? The progress bar for the Iteration Plan and Story Work Item currently seem to show a percentage based on the number of closed work item and the number of open work items without considering the actual time estimate of each work item. For example, if I have 3 work items in my Iteration Plan with estimates of 1 day, 4 days and 5 days respectively. If I have closed the 1 day work item, the progress bar will show 33% completed, but I would expect to see 10% completed instead. Ideally, I would love to see the following. There are two additional fields in the Work Item called "% Work Completed" and "Time Spent". For the same scenario above, assume the following: - I have completed the 1-day work item in 1 day - I have spent 2 days working on the 4-day work item, but have finished 75% of the work (so % Work Completed is 75) - I haven't started the 5-day work item. So I am ahead of schedule. One progress bar for work completed shows (10%*1day + 75%*4days)/10days = 40%, and another progress bar for time spent shows (1 day + 2 days)/10 days = 30%. If the two bars are equal in length, then I am on schedule. If the work completed bar is longer than the time spent bar, then I am ahead of schedule. If the work completed bar is shorter than the time spent bar, then I am behind schedule. Kelvin |

Hi Kelvin,
beta2 doesn't contain support for time spent fields. It got added for M5D1. We are currently in the process of revisiting the use of progress bars in agile planning. Where it makes sense we replace open/close based bars with estimate bars (for example the team load section and the my work view uses estimate based bars). The progress bar in the story work item is definitely a candidate. Dirk Agile Planning Component. kho wrote: I have followed the instructions in the link below to add the story |
