Adding approvers via OSLC/Rest api's on Workitems

Hi All,
we are trying to add the approvers to an EWM workitem. we are able to achieve this via plugin. But how to do the same operation for Add/update of approvers on workitem using Rest/OSLC api's. Even if it is a private api, it's fine for us. 
If we don't have any api's, can we update the approvers on the workitem (add/removal of approver), if so how to do that

As far as I am aware, there is no public Web API that allows to add approvers. I am only aware of the SDK that has a Java API that allows to do this. There is obviously an internal API that does it. This API is not supported.
