Question on Plans

Following is our use case:

  • We have a PA which has many child PA's
  • Each Team Area has it's own time line (including individual backlog for each team).
Question:
  • We want to have a Backlog planning across selected Teams (including Ranking)
In Plans,
  • It is possible to select one Owner and one Timeline (including sub iterations)
Workaround:
  • Create a new new Team Area
  • Create new timeline and move all Backlog sub iterations to this team area
  • Use this Team area and it's iterations in plans.
This unfortunately will not work for us as the Project needs to plan their backlog in their team area.

What alternatives do we have to solve this use case?

Thank you.

Hi Kartik,

in the (classic) planning component, a plan has an owner (process area such as project area or team area) and an iteration. The plan can only show items that are owned by the owner (and sub team areas) and planned for the iteration or sub-iterations. As far as I can tell, there is no way to show multiple timelines in a single plan.

The only capability that can show relationships between items in different areas and timelines in the cross project tracking. As far as I know, this does not support ranking in the plan, it only shows the linked items.
