Upgrade DOORS NG from 6.0.6 to 7.0.2

Richard Hall (107213) | asked Apr 28 '23, 10:52 a.m.

We need to upgrade DOORS NG from 6.0.6 to 7.0.2 and are also advised that we should change the database from SQL Server to DB2.

When we do this process will the identifiers of the existing artifacts be changed or will the existing ids be maintained?

Identifiers will be unchanged. Make sure you've updated 6.0.6 to the latest iFix before upgrade, and make sure you put the latest 7.0.2 iFix into your new 7.0.2 installation before upgrading. One reason for this is that the latest iFixes include the latest improvements to the upgrade process, and that's what you want.

Upgrade from SQL Server to DB2 first, get your new server stable, then do the upgrade to 7.0.2.

You should anyway do a trial upgrade i.e. not on your production server but using a clone of production data, which may help you answer questions about the result of upgrading.

Thank you.

The last upgrade we did to 6.0.6 was horrendous and our IT department are wary of the whole process
