Add the global config target stream link to an artifact
Hi
We are using global config in our project in DNG
How do we automatically add the global config target stream link to the end of an artifact when linking an artifact in a link type? it only goes up the resource but need everything from the oslc target config link.
I want it so that when a user clicks on the link, it goes to a certain stream or the global config stream.
One answer
Short answer is you don't.
Links to versioned artifacts are to their concept URI. See the OSLC Configuration Management Primer for an explanation of these terms and the linking model.
What is stored as the link value is the URI of the concept resource of a target artifact. When you navigate from the tool that owns the source of that link, the tool applies the configuration context for you. In tools, such as DOORS Next and ETM, that context is selected in the configuration context banner button.
Best regards,
David.

Thank you. This has improved my understanding.
So how would we direct users to the most 'appropriate' stream when exporting a DNG module? it doesn't contain the configuration link so it'll load it up in a changeset.
Like everywhere else, the users know the context of their work. Streams do not create themselves, they are provided by the configuration manager and the user know what they are working on. Global configuration can be a way to look up the relevant information as well.
Sorry I did not explain this well.
Well you export the a module to a word document the hyperlinks do not contain the stream it should open it. The user isn't going to know the context of the stream it should open in. It should ideally open on the stream we would set it to. How do we do that then?
Before starting the export, did you make sure the correct configuration has been selected in the configuration context banner? If there are link to artifacts in other DOORS Next components or other applications, make sure the configuration is a global configuration.
Hi.
Yes I have made sure I am on the correct configuration.
I have done some exports and the traceability report does add the configuration URL directing users to the configuration that I have exported in.
It doesn't do this in the normal reports including the doors template. Is that normal? we use this more often rather than the traceability so it would be nice to know if there's a way to allow the configuration URL to be added in the 'normal' reports.
