vision:Jazz is same as Lotus
Before five years ago,I worked as NON-IBMer in Lotus domino team in csdl.I found it is difficult to integrate all product of Lotus.so I don't like Lotus domino ,sametime and so on.but I found a great product named IBM Workplace Collaboration Services.it's single storage ,easy installation, componect architecture.it provide all function of domino/sametime/doc manage.
At that time,I think Rational should have a C/ALM product .It is same as IBM Workplace Collaboration Services. when jazz.net is public at 2007,I was excited .And I introduced our websphere commerce team to use the team concert. but now I am Disappointed.Jazz is more same as integration Lotus(domino/sametime/doc management). |

RTC has four main components: SCM, Build, Work Items, and Agile
Planning. IBM Workplace Collaboration Services has no SCM, no Build, and no Agile Planning. There is some overlap in functionality between Work Items and Lotus Activities, but that is inevitable, since every collaboration product needs some kind of change management. I know jazz and IBM Workplace Collaboration Services is not same product ,I only hope jazz is a single product providing a completely integrated collaborative ALM
environment include requirement management,SCM,agile planning/work item,QM .I don't want to install team concert, requirement composer,QM,and so on.then integrate the products. I hope I can install one product and all collaborative ALM environment is ready. RTC has four main components: SCM, Build, Work Items, and Agile |
Fully agree with openis - one of the benefits of a "common" Jazz
platform should be not having to go through the usual integration gymnastics. RTC already does this nicely but someday (soon?) the rest will fall into place I hope.. openeis wrote: I know jazz and IBM Workplace Collaboration Services is not same |

Yes, I completely agree. The various products using the Jazz platform
need to interoperate out of the box, and not require the end user to perform the integrations. That is certainly the goal of the Jazz platform. (But note that doing so in a system that supports a complex distributed enterprise is by no means easy).
