Alternative options for "deleting" a work item

Andrés Guerrero (20613218) | asked Dec 03 '09, 7:12 a.m.
Hi all,

I have some users that want to completely "delete" a list of work items that were loaded in the project area with incorrect data. They don't want just set a "closed" or "special" state on these work items.
I know direct deleting is not possible.

Which are the best practices in this case?

Thanks

Regards

Andres

Hi Andres,

An alternative option to the one you already described is to create a
private project area (e.g. 'Trash' ;)) where you move the work items to
be 'deleted'.

It seems I can only move individual work item selected from a query output.

If I select more than on and the Move/Copy function is grayed out?

So How do I move several work items together to another project area?

I seem to miss something when trying to follow the instruction form the link given.
I downloaded com.ibm.team.workitem.rcp.ui_2.0.0.I200905141739.jar and copy it to my 2.0 client installation. I then comment off the newer version I have com.ibm.team.workitem.rcp.ui_2.0.0.I200906081319.jar,restart RTC client, but the Plugin Registry can't pick the new plugin up. So I renamed com.ibm.team.workitem.rcp.ui_2.0.0.I200905141739.jar to com.ibm.team.workitem.rcp.ui_2.0.0.I200906081319.jar, still not working. I only have Reports and Source Control listed under any Project Area under Team Artifacts now.

I need to do this as well as I accidentally migrated duplicate records to my Project Area. I created a new Project Area called Trash that I want to move to.

Patrick,

The page in the Wiki referenced above is helpful, but do you guys have installation instructions to set it up for those of us who haven't done it before? I need to move about 4000 records so this is very useful to me.

Thanks,
