SameTime 7.5.1 steadfastly refuses to work

Dale Manthei (14185) | asked Jan 17 '08, 2:08 p.m.
No matter what I have tried I can not get past this error:

Coult not connect to Sametime client. Check that Jazz is allowed to
connect to port 1883 on your machine and read the Jazz setup guide for
troubleshooting information.
FMBD1105 jazz1200596416468 Module TCPInitiator: Could not connect to
/127.0.0.1:1883

So far, I have tried

- new workspace
- new install of jazz (doing this from zips, not installer)
- turning off my firewall
- reinstalling st 7.5.1 (from ISSI)

Yes, I set
com.ibm.collaboration.realtime.brokerbridge/startBroker=true
in the ini file.

All to no avail.

Any and all suggestions appreciated.

Hi,

Just to check:
- Have you installed the Jazz/Sametime integration plugins from the RTC
download zip?
- Have you restarted Sametime after setting the property to true?
- Did you check whether there is a TCP connection to localhost:1883
after the error occurred?

If this does not help, I suggest you file a bug with exact steps to
Foundation/Collaboration.

Cheers,
Toby

It seems the additonal sametime plug-ins are not necessary. A
colleague conncets fine without them. For me it was not making a
difference.

Sametime was restarted, even reinstalled.

Checked the connections with netstat and nothing there.

A complete reinstall did not fix it initially. However the reinstall
of ST still came up with things like my primary buddies plug-in. So,
I uninstalled ST again, rummaged through documents and settings for
Sametime related files. I nuked the directory:
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\IBM\RCP\Sametime
and then reinstalled Sametime. Now it works.

Hi,

The Jazz/Sametime integration plugins are indeed not necessary for basic
functionality like presence indication and the ability to launch chats
from within the Jazz workbench.

The integration plugins however add additional functionality like ad-hoc
creation of work item links (you can type "bug 1234" and it gets
automatically linked) and opening Jazz artifact links from within Sametime.

HTH,
