Micro Advanced Team Velocity - How is 'Committed' Calculated?

Is there someplace where I can find out how the 'committed' portion of this query is calculated?

I like how the 'completed' calculation enforces the resolution date occurring in the timeline of the 'planned for' value. It leads to good conversations with teams. But, I'm not sure what factors are involved in determining the 'committed' value shown in the graph.
