Exactly what determines the sorting in a widget

 This version 5.0.1

Widget has a query associated with it of all Change Requests - there is no designated sort in the query Sorting Mismatch
On the widget we're selecting the above query but then organizing by status
The result is a table count that is literally all over the place - normally the table shows the counts in highest to lowest

the ordering is by stateid

Here is an enhancement request to get the sorting by state name instead :
