RPE: Make external variables optional

 Hi,

I have 3 external variables:
  • Test_Plan
  • Test_Suite
  • Test_Case
Each uses the Configuration Metadata to provide a "Browse ..." button.
The user now should only provide exactly ONE and the template than is based on that selection.

Problem: How can I make an external variable "optional" so that the two other can remain blank.
RQM keeps saying "Missing Required Parameter: Test_Plan" (etc) because all external variables are mandatory.

Thanks in advance and best regards

Hi Thomas,
I am afraid you cannot make an external variable as optional when the document is generated through RQM. User has to set the value for all external variables - either select (using Browse button) or enter a value.
However, if you are using RPE Launcher or Document Builder, document generation succeeds even without setting values to external variables.
I suggest creating an Enhancement request against RQM to use the "Default value" provided for the RPE variables and proceed with report generation.
