How can I use Rational Doors next generation to create a report/diagram with all the business requirements and their corresponding system requirements with their status?

Li Luo (111) | asked May 13 '19, 10:03 a.m.

In our project, we have used Rational Doors Next Generation to manage requirements. We want to know with this software, whether we can generate a report/diagram to show the business requirements, and for each business requirement, we want to show their corresponding system requirements. All requirements need to have a status. We want to show the cross reference as well if possible, since we have at least two sets of business requirements. If yes, how can we do it with the software? Thanks in advance.

Hi Li,

For DNG, there are pre-defined reports available.
https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSYMRC_6.0.6/com.ibm.rational.rrm.help.doc/topics/r_report_descriptions.html

The first step is to verify if there is any pre-defined report which satisfies your requirements. If you want to include diagrams, then Document-Style Report is the one to select. Data warehouse reports do not contain diagrams.

If there is no pre-defined report to match, then you need to customize it. There are two ways
1. Document-Style Report by RPE (separate license)
https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSYMRC_6.0.6/com.ibm.rational.rrdg.usage.doc/topics/t_author_docstyle_report.html
2. Report Builder with Data warehouse or LQE
https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSYMRC_6.0.6/com.ibm.team.jp.jrs.doc/topics/t_jrs_create_reports.html

Again, if you want to include diagrams, select option 1. You will need to have a knowledge how to customize report templates in RPE (Rational Publishing Engine).
