Importing Document Into RDNG - RM: Identify Tables

Kevin Murphy (9621317) | asked Sep 18 '14, 11:48 a.m.
On the document import wizard in RDNG, there's a page where you can map artifact types. For example, you can map a Heading to one of RDNG's defined Heading types. Or an Image to your own custom type.

I've got a document that makes heavy use of tables, and my RDNG project has an artifact type called "Table". Is it possible to have Word document tables imported as Table artifacts? If so, how?

An identifier can be any unique string of characters, e.g,
  • "TABLE-START" and "TABLE-END"
  • "$$$$$-table-start"
  • "@#$%"

What if you placed identifiers just before and after each table?
Then you could use that option in the import wizard.

Hi Daniel,

Can you please be more specific? What would an identifier look like?

Thanks!!

In the Upload wizard, you would use Keywords or Delimiters with the identifiers that Daniel mentioned.  I think Delimiters would be safer because you can specify a begin and end delimiter.  (With keywords, you can choose to extract the whole paragraph... I would think that would correspond to the whole table, but I'm not sure).
