Cannot add work item in empty plan

I used the Web interface to create a new product backlog plan. I have no work items at all in the db so far. Clicking on the + on the plan to add work items does not work. After adding one work item under "Work items" and associating it with the plan, the + works.

Am I doing something wrong? Is this a known problem?

Thanks
- Thomas

What do you mean by 'does not work'? Are the actions not enabled
(grayish on none IE browser) or do they not work as one would expect,
e.g. create a work item.

Actually clicking on the "+" does not result in any activity, i.e. the action drop down does not occur at all.

Thomas,

I checked this right now (simple process). Switching to the planned item tab and used + did work for me. So at least in the configuration I am running here it works with 2.0.0.1.

However, I found some areas for improvement too. e.g. using the eclipse client dependent of the view that is selected it is not possible to select the default for new work items (backlog) if it is empty (other views work e.g. the taskboard). Maybe you ran into some similar situation. Can you be more specific e.g. Version of RTC? I assume you are talking about the scrum template here.

Yes, it's the Scrum template. And I am using a 2.0.0.1 enterprise edition server on my local system, set up in the default configuration with derby and tomcat. The plan type is Product Backlog

I suspect that the described problem depends on any special configuration or order how I created my artifacts.

Some more details:
The problem in the Web UI occurs only when I select a view mode that has a grouping (such as "Teams" or "Iterations"), i.e. when empty folders are visible. In a mode with grouping None (such as "Backlog" or "Work Breakdown"), the dropdown occurs after clicking on '+'.
(However, this dropdown menu contains ALL available work item types. I would have expected that only Epic and Story are available, but this is probably another story)

Another strange behavior, not sure if this is related:
In the current state of my server, I use the Eclpise client and open the product backlog in "Teams" view mode. Right-clicking on the Teams's folder (I have only one team defined) results in no dropdown. Pressing Ctrl-Enter results in a dropdown containing only "No Work Item Type Available".
When I took the screenshots for the tutorial (https://www.ibm.com/developerworks/rational/library/09/scrumprojectmanagementteamconcert-1/) all went fine, but Millard had exactly the same problem (he tested with 2.0 RC2 at that time) that I experience now after setting up my new server.
Switching to "Iterations" view mode, a right-click opens the expected dropdown.

The behavior I described above changes from time to time (maybe depending on the server's mood).
Today, in a plan (type product backlog) if I right-click on the folder, the expected popup occurs. However, when I press Ctrl-Enter, the following error occurs:

"Add Work Item" die not complete normally. Please see the log for more information
org.mozilla.javascript.EcmaError
TypeError: Cannot call method "getElement" of null (RankingPlanItemSorter.js#192)

Any idea?
