Jazz Source Control

Hi,

Concerning Jazz Source Control, maybe I did not understand how it works but here is the problem that I met:

When someone deliver changes I can only see the incoming changes when I deliver. Otherwise I do not see the changes.

Is there a need to configure Jazz to act another way or is it something else?

Thanks in advance,

Chris

Hi Chris

The Pending Changes view should update - you do not need to do a deliver. However, the view may not refresh immediately unless you do some file operation like saving a file, checking in or delivering. You can also refresh Pending Changes manually.

Yes, for now, I have to press Refresh to get the changes. That does not seem convenient?

Guys,
I understood and created a project stream, component and also my workspace. For some reason I do not get to load a simple .txt file (for example) containing my code into the change sets, components, streams or into the Repository files pane. Am I missing something?

WHERE do I put the files?

So what happens when you save a file - does that force an update of Pending Changes for you?

What version of RTC and operating system are you using?

Hi

The simplest way is to create an Eclipse project, put your file in that project, and right-button on the Eclipse project then do a Team->Share Project. Follow the wizard instructions, and choose your RTC project and component when requested.

Just to be clear, which changes require you to press Refresh? Is it
change that you make locally that show up as Outgoing on Unresolved? Or
is it changes made by others that show up as Incoming?

If it is a local, outgoing change, how did you make the change? Did you
make the change through the Eclipse IDE? Or did you do it through the
file system or through some other tool? Changes made through the
Eclipse IDE should be picked up immediately. Changes made by other
means require a refresh before either Eclipse or the Pending Changes
view will notice them.

If it is incoming changes that require you to press Refresh, how long
did you wait after the change set was delivered to the stream? The
Pending Changes view polls the server every now and then to see if
incoming changes are available. (I don't know what the polling
frequency is.) It's not practical to have the Pending Changes view
continuously check for changes.

I am using sun solaris and the last version of RTC.

The change was done in Eclipse and we tested using on 2 different RTC clients. I was expected the incoming change to be immediate. But, yes, that is right we do not want to have the pending changes view continuously refreshed that would be distracting.
