Scrum release burndown

Hello,
As a development manager using scrum, I need a scrum release burndown chart to help me predict how much work will get done in the release and make plan changes accordingly.
Looking at the latest RTC "release burndown" chart (yes - I have deployed the latest v2.0.0.1 templates), I don't get this value. Specifically, it doesn't include 'future' iterations, nor give any indicator of the ideal or expected curve based on current velocity. I also frequently struggle to understand how it derives it's point values, so don't feel I can trust it.
So I am currently exporting story csv data from RTC into Excel (cringe!) and using that to create a burndown chart that is useful for my teams to understand where we are.
Is there any further work planned on release burndown chart? I would be happy to create a work item, share the diagrams I use and help in it's creation. I'd really like to abandon Excel!
Regards,
Mark
