Work item comments usage

Zachary K (19354239) | asked Oct 19 '12, 4:42 p.m.
Hi,
I have a few questions regarding the comment field usage in work items. The only way team members are updated about a new comment being added is if they are “subscribers”. They get an email saying there was a generic update to the work item they subscribe to.

Is there any way to make the “comments” section more dynamic that would allow you to direct comments at people? That way they can get an email and not need to subscribe to every item? Also, can the emails be more descriptive about the comment?

Thanks in advance for any input

You can reference another user in a work item comment using the @ symbol and their userid. When you do that the entire comment is sent to the referenced users email address.

For example:

@agfitzp What do you think of the way comments work.

 Thanks that does the trick!
