IBM java 6 and java 7 supported operating system

Naveen V (791759) | asked Jul 17 '17, 2:20 p.m.

We are using IBM WAS 8.0 for CLM 5.0.3 with Java 6 in windows 2008 R2 standard version. As we know java 6 end of lifecycle is on April 2018 so I am in a process to upgrade java along with WAS version.

Need some details to upgrade. Can anyone please help me to find the details

Q 1) Does java 6 works in Windows 2012 OS ?
Q 2) Does java 7 works in windows 2008 OS?

Based on the supported version of OS we will decide to upgrade OS or use existing. Even we are in a process of upgrade of CLM 6.0.3 version but my first priority is to upgrade java.

Thanks,

The product compatibility report for CLM 6.0.3 confirms that the Windows Server 2008 R2 is still a supported operating system and that "You must use IBM Java 7.1 SR3 FP40 or later" so the implication is that Java 7 will work in Windows Server 2008 R2.:
 [https://www.ibm.com/software/reports/compatibility/clarity-reports/report/html/softwareReqsForProduct?deliverableId=1F7E1300EDE411E4989B60FF8B09BCE8&osPlatforms=Windows&duComponentIds=D005|D004|D002|D003|S001|S006#]

The product requirements for CLM 5.0 also confirm that the product is supported with Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows Server 2012 R2 and as CLM 5.0 ships with IBM Java SDK 6.0 the inference is that Java 6 will work on Windows Server 2012 R2

Note however that Windows Server 2008 R2 reached it's end of service life in January 2015.
