Error with Cognos components during installation

Gonzalo Soto (961159) | asked Sep 17 '09, 11:13 p.m.
Hi.
I am having problems with the installation.
DB2 Enterprise Server 9.5 is correctly installed.

Trying to install on a single system schema.

While installing, DBs are created correctly but seems that Cognos components are not being installed (nor found) -> see screens below.

Notice on the screens the path:
"C:\Program Files\IBM\Rational Insight/cognos/bin...."
Why the '/' changes its side? Weird...

When selecting not to install Cognos components, the installation goes just fine... but this is not what I want.

Any ideas?

Can you please attach the logs referenced in the error you are seeing in Installation Manager? The log should contain more information about the error that may help troubleshoot this problem. Thanks,

Sure, you can download http://www.yousendit.com/download/ZW9CUXV1ZDUzeUpFQlE9PQ all my logs.

The thing is that the error msg names an error log file that doesn't exist...

Should I consider installing Cognos components first and then installing Insight?

BTW, I have DB2 instance up and running while installing Insight. Is that ok?

Thanks in advance!

PS: files will be available for 7 days, I can re-upload them if necessary.

You do not need to have the Cognos components installed first in order to install Insight. Having a DB2 instance up and running is ok too, since you will want to create the database during the installation. It looks like they were created without any problems.

Can you run the install of the Cognos components again, and gather new logs when the error appears in Installation Manager? I do not see the log file that should contain the details. It is possible that they were removed when the installation rolled back. Thanks,

I downloaded again the product and try a new fresh install, with no success.

I also deleted the entire log folder just to get the new logs, but this is all I get:
http://www.yousendit.com/download/ZW9ETmZSSU9UME5FQlE9PQ

Here are some screens during the installation:

AND the only Cognos log file I found:

I just don't know what to try now... any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

Was your last attempt a fresh install? From the Cognos log file stating that you're installing to an existing location it seems that either 1. a previous Insight installation attempt was not completely cleaned from the system or 2. that you are updating to a later release of Insight.

The slashes weirdness is an install issue and should not affect the installation.

Can you provide any more details about your installation environment? On what OS and platform are you installing?
