Hi John,
"Workitem" is a somewhat generic term in Jazz parlance. It can refer to many artifact types that all descend from Workitem, including "Defects", "Tasks", and others.
When you create a defect associated with a Test Artifact in RQM, it will be viewable in both RQM and RTC, although it technically "lives" in RTC.
When you create a "Workitem" (Task) in RQM, i.e. to complete a Test Plan, etc, that will actually "live" in RQM and only be visible in RQM.
This isolation is partly by design - to isolate QE specific artifacts from Dev, and vice-versa, while still allowing collaboration on common artifacts.
I hope that helps a bit.
Regards,
John

RTC V2.0/RQM V2.0 x-server configuration is complete & working; projects are connected:
If a Work Item is created in RTC is it possible to view it in RQM?
If a Work item is created in RQM is it it possible to view it in RTC?
Thx!

Thanks for the clarification John..

I can see that this can be done from within the Defects tab. The word "Defects" threw me for a minute as I thought only Defects could be managed therein, but actually all RQM Work Item types can be managed therein.
I can further see that certain Work Items can be created via the Create Work Item button within certain Test artifacts. eg. Plans & Test Cases.

Just one further clarification required:
Is it only Defect Work Items which can be created in the RQM web UI? All other Work Items have to be created in the Eclipse Client; correct?
Is there any plan to change this?

How can I view a defect created from RQM via a delegated UI in RTC?
Here's the scenario: in RQM, I went to "Defects -> Create Defect." This brought up an iframe from RTC. I successfully created the defect, which I can see from RTC.
How can I create a query from RQM to view that defect? I would think that "Recently created" and "Open created by me" would show it, but they do not.
Thanks, Gary

Hi Gary... as far as I understand it, you can't view the defect in RQM; its "living" in RTC. With your RQM-RTC x-configuration, the only time you can view defects in RQM is when they are raised under particular circumstances; e.g. raised when executing a test case, or raised when viewing an execution result. This viewing mechanism is via a rich text hover (there is a link to the defect in RTC also). The scenario you describe is really just like raising the defect directly in RTC (because of your RQM-RTC x-configuration); there are no linkages to RQM or from RQM. Rgds John

Sorry Gary, I better be clear here... I'm just a user of the product like yourself... I dont claim to know exactly how everything works... so I could be missing something!!! John
Hmm. One would think that a tester (or test lead, architect, etc.) in RQM would want a quick way to see the status of all the defects he created (ones that live in RTC).

I'm interested in this separation by design for tasks in RQM. In our project we expect to manage the time and work of developers AND testers in RTC. And as such would want to be able to track workitems created for work in RQM, inside RTC. I would imagine that ideally there would be two connection types for RTC servers.
one is 'tests' to indicate that this RQM instance is testing the code developed in a particular RTC project. and another is 'implemented by' which links to an RTC which is tracking the activities of the test team, managing the test code being writen etc.
I might want to associate a failing test run against either a defect in the product RTC, or a defect in the test material RTC.
It seems this is not currently possible?
